Btoa is short for "Binary to ASCII." It is a type of file encoding that converts a binary file to a text file. B2A files may be saved in the standard btoa format or Adobe's Ascii85 format.
Since btoa-encoded files are saved in a text format, they can be transferred over communication protocols that only support text file transfers.
